Who We Are

Servant Leadership Institute [SLI] was established to train up generations of Christian leaders throughout Africa who will disciple believers who can transform their cultures and societies to conform to the Kingdom of God to the degree that it can in the here and now. Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven," that is, as it exists now. Therefore, SLI is dedicated to teaching Christian leaders the full counsel of God's Word so that they can live it, teach it and plant it wherever they go. 

SLI is a joint vision given to Dr. Gideon Umukoro of Nigeria and Dr. John McGeorge, Jr. of Richmond, VA. The Lord Jesus brought them together to build His vision for developing a leadership training center to effectively train up 1000's of Christian leaders who are mature, godly, knowledgeable, full of grace and love, anointed with the Holy Spirit and are visionaries who will strengthen existing churches, plant new churches and send believers into their societies to transform it and bring it into agreement with the Kingdom of God.

Dr. Gideon Umukoro, Director of SLI Nigeria

Dr. Gideon Umukoro has served as a pastor, trainer of leaders, and Christian worker for over 20 years. He and his wife, Funke, presently lead the Servant Leadership Institute in Akure, Nigeria.

This is a four-year training program for pastors, deacons, elders, evangelists, apostles, prophets, teachers and any Christian worker who wants to equipped to:

• Live an effective Christian life
• Teach others
• Minister effectively
• Train others in the faith, and
• Release leaders into the harvest

Dr. John F. McGeorge, Jr.

Dr. McGeorge is a retired lawyer and former businessman who received a call from the Lord 25 years ago to go and train leaders. He lived in Eastern Europe for 12 years during the height of communism, planning over 100 Bible training centers in 10 nations. In 2001, he started Servant Leadership Ministries to train leaders in the principles of serving like Jesus Christ and now works primarily in Africa and Asia.

He is the author of many books and magazine articles, and lives in the USA.
